One resource I used for writing The Princess Curse was SurLaLune’s Annotated Twelve Dancing Princesses… and the Romanian version also hosted there.
I think I mentioned that when I wrote this book, I wanted to choose as a main character someone who was neither the Young Gardener of the French version nor the Old Soldier of other versions. I actually had a third character in an early draft, named Jonic after the Jonica of the Romanian version. He was an also-ran for one of the three “heroes” of the story. I’ll post more about him after everything I say about it wouldn’t be a spoiler, but suffice it to say, he has been combined with the character of Armas.
